Living in South East London with his wife,
daughter and 2 dogs Tony "boo" Romano began his musical life
as a saxophone player. A veteran of numerous bands and recording sessions,
he started on alto but soon switched to baritone
before finally settling on the tenor sax.
A long fascination with the Aboriginal people of Australia and the sound
of the didgeridoo led him to learning to play this ancient instrument
under the expert guidance of Colin from Aboriginal
Arts Ltd.
In one of those happy coincidences that life sometimes throws at you,
a lifelong interest in the paranormal bought him into contact with a paranormal
research group who wanted to conduct an experiment based around an ancient
Aborigine belief that the sound of the didgeridoo created a link between
this world and the world of their ancestors, the spirit world. The results
were impressive and gave the group probably the most active night they'd
had at a location they'd visited many times previously. So boo and his
didj became a regular fixture at the group's investigations. He is now
probably the only person in the UK, and maybe the world, deliberately
playing the didgeridoo to any spirits in the vicinity.
Mid-way through 2006 the group split but some of its members, including
boo went on to form the UK
Paranormal Research Society which
quickly rose to be one of the UK's leading paranormal research organisations.
In October 2007 boo left the UK Paranormal Reasearch Society to play a
role in the formation of a new organisation, The
Supernatural Society. Through The
Supernatural Society boo began to work on investigations with
a group running organised ghost hunts for those wanting to get involved
in the world of ghost hunting, Dark
Encounters. Now acting as an investigation team-leader for
Dark Encounters.
boo can be found most weekends in a haunted building somewhere in the
country and he is still playing his didj for the benefit of any resident
or passing ghosts.
He has appeared on TV (BBC 1 and ITV channel Meridian) playing the didgeridoo,
worked with London radio station LBC and their presenters on the LBC
Psychic Show, renowned psychic medium Becky
Walsh and her co-host Chris Hawkins, TV's Most Haunted psychic
medium Ian
Shillito and worked as didgeridoo player for Aboriginal (Yorta
Yorta clan) storyteller Francis
Firebrace.
He is available for public performances and to teach the didgeridoo to
individuals or groups, please get
in touch for details. He is also available to any paranormal
research group who'd like to try the didgeridoo on an investigation, please
get in touch
and we can make arrangements.
If you're interested in joining boo and
the rest of the Dark Encounters team for a night of ghost hunting please
visit the Dark
Encounters website.
